Diabetic Clinic at King's College Hospital
Laboratory Overview
Opening Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm
The Diabetic Clinic laboratory at King's College Hospital is based on the Ground Floor, Venetian Building, Caldecot Road, SE5 9RS
Our service has two dimensions:
- The laboratory analyses all Hba1c samples referred to King's College Hospital. We use a boronate affinity chromatography method which is unaffected by the majority of haemoglobin variants enabling clinicians to use Hba1c for Diabetic patient monitoring.
- We provide a capillary blood collection for Diabetic patients attending Diabetic Clinic to enable their clinicians to have immediate access to their Hba1c and Glucose results. In addition to this each patient has a urinalysis screen to check for Glucose, Ketones, Protein and signs of infection.
