Clinical Biochemistry at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals

Laboratory overview

The laboratory provides a wide range of analytical services for diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of disease for both in-patients and out-patients.

The department has an active role in many research projects and clinical studies throughout the UK.

Opening hours for routine investigations

Royal Brompton Hospital
Monday to Friday: 9am to 5.30pm

Harefield Hospital
Monday to Friday: 8:30am to 5pm

An emergency service is available outside these hours.

Clinical Advice

The Biochemistry department provides a wide range of analytical services for diagnosis, monitoring, screening and follow-up of patients. 

For any clinical queries the GSTT Consultant Chemical Pathologist can be contacted via the switchboard on  GSTT 020 7188 7188 during working hours (Monday - Friday 09:00am - 17:00pm)

Outside these core hours, the on-call Consultant Chemical Pathologist can be contacted via the GSTT switchboard on GSTT 020 7188 7188 or the King's College Hospital switchboard on 020 3299 9000.

The on-call rota will be held at the switchboard and the call can be forwarded appropriately

For any Immunology Clinical advice queries - the Immunology Consultant and clinical team can be contacted at the Blackfriar's Hub location on 020 4591 0007 or 020 4614 7520

Please note that Immunology Consultants can also be contacted on 0203 299 8752/1171 (KCH Denmark Hill )  until Monday the 28th of July 2025. After this date, please do not use this number , as testing services are being transferred to the Hub laboratory.
